My before and after...

So before I get started on my detailed jorney to my next competition, I thought I would post some before and after pictures. That way you could see where I've come from and where I am now. Not alot of people have seen some of these pictures so I'm going out on a limb here.

This is me! 2010, this is me! I don't even remember how much I weighed then. Prob around 170. I felt disgusting and not pretty. I knew I needed to make some changes and badly.

My first show, May 12, 2012! Felt amazing! Body fat was 10% and weight was between 140-145. Palmetto Cup.

My second show, June 2, 2012. Body fat still low 10% and weight still around 140. More definition in my abdominals. State Competition.

Now I am around 150-155 and my body fat has stayed in the 14% range since my last show. I am working on building my upper body muscle mass and toning abs still. I have started back on my stricter eating and can't wait to see how my body will transform for the November 3, 2012 Jen Hendershot show!

Just getting started.

Sometimes you just want to share, let others know what is going on in life and how you feel about things. Well, this is my blog. I got the idea from some friends who have blogs and thought I would really try and put forth the effort to get mine up and going.

Besides my handsome husband and amazing kids I have a love for something. That something is fitness. Now I am not a personal trainer nor have I gotten any degrees in it. I go solely off of experiance and my own journey. I don't have some miraculous story that includes a hard life, death, sickness, absent parents, etc. I come from two loving parents and married a man who does as well. We have two beautiful, healthy children also. I was never obese or severly overweight. I am tall, 5'11", and have a normal shaped body. I have been over 200 pounds before after having my children. Now someone of my height has a normal range of 140-160. So, I guess that would be included as "overweight."

I started the YMCA in the beginning of 2010. I got really into it. LOVED spin class! Got hooked on cardio. I'd go and do up to two hours of cardio. Not paying attention to any weights or the "guy room", as some call it. That is where all the "professionals" worked out. Those who knew their stuff and weren't scared to work out hard. One day I noticed some of the girls wearing these shirts. The shirts had sayings such as, "Live it, Love it, Be it" and "Fitgirls" on them. I got curious and asked a girl about them. It was a group formed by one of the employees at the YMCA named Missy. She was a very well trained personal trainer and very educated in nutrition and fitness. She was also a fitness competitor. One of the classes she offered was for fitness competitions. Well, I'll be damned! That was just what I wanted and needed! So, I met with her. Got my body fat tested and got my diet and exercise in January, 2012. I was set to go! Between working with an amazing tranier who knew her stuff, meeting wonderful, friendly, beautiful teammates, and training for my first show I was on cloud 9! Never before had I been a part of something so gifting and rewarding! I competed in my first competition, in the bikini class, May 12, 2012 and my second show June 2, 2012. I am now moving up into the figure class, which is more upper body muscle mass, and training for November 3, 2012. It was a very rewarding experiance to know that MY body looked that great and that I acheived a huge goal! I could not be happier!

This is my first post and I am excited to get started on my next posts. I will be including my journey to my next competition as a wife and mother. I will share my struggles and my happy times! This will truly be an adventure for us all!

This is me with two of my very best friends during my training period for my first show. I am in the violet dress. This was at a fashion show benefiting HopeStreet Ministries, an organization that helps homeless and less fortunate people by feeding and clothing them along with teaching them about God and helping to bring them to salvation.
